Abstract

Shajay Bhooshan of Zaha Hadid Architects unveils a participatory model for urban development in his presentation, weaving computational design with digital fabrication and ancient masonry adapted for robotic 3D printing. Bhooshan underscores the role of video game technologies, like Unreal and Unity engines, in enhancing end-user engagement in architectural design. He introduces a decentralized ownership model inspired by blockchain, nurturing individual ownership and a diversified economy.

A Honduran case study exemplifies this approach, showcasing a micro-factory concept that combines imported robots with local labor for on-site manufacturing, boosting the economy and minimizing waste. Bhooshan envisions a democratized future of architecture and urban planning, where technology and human-centric design converge for a sustainable, adaptable, and user-inclusive urban environment, echoing the humanistic ideals of Eames’ case study houses.
