Research Focus

Multi-Property & Multi-Material 3D Printing

Interested in how the developments in additive manufacturing technologies and techniques will impact the role and process of Architecture, and the ways in which these advancements will help achieve ultimate efficiency as well as dictate a certain design language. I am working on optimising design around the function and structure of each element, by controlling and organising the topology according to a set of factors. My initial approach began with an interest in biomimicry, and the structure of natural cellular organisms, and how the interior structure of the cells dictates the rigidity or elasticity of the organism. Trying to apply this to design, I began experimenting with how 3D printing can allow a single material to vary in density in order to create different textures and rigidities throughout a form.
